This is my latest piece of knitting, a warm woolly scarf for my boss who had a birthday this week. I enjoyed knitting this cabled pattern because I learned something new, you can have cables on the back and front of your knitting at the same time which is really amazing when you try it for the first time. Have a look at the Palindrome Scarf pattern and you will see how it's done, it's not a tight cable but it gives the twisted look just the same. I used Cleckheaton Country Naturals in 8ply or double knit weight rather than the bulky weight that was suggested in the pattern, also used one size larger needle than normal (4.5mm) to keep the scarf soft and pliable. I also added 12 rows of ribbing at the beginning and end to give a mock fringed appearance.
For those who don't know a palindrome is a word, phrase, number or other sequence of units that can be read the same way in either direction as in the title of this post. Another I very much like, "A man, a plan, a canal, Panama!".

Very pretty -- and perfect color for a manly scarf.
Of course, I can't imagine WEARING one right now since we're in the hottest part of the year. But, I've been promised that cooler weather will come along again --- just not soon enough for me.

i love this scarf pattern - it looks great. the one think i don't really like about cables in scarves is the reverse pattern. i might just give this one a try.
