I've been a green and pink depression glass collector for quite a few years now and these are the most recent additions to the growing collection I have accumulated. This pair of 1930's candlesticks were a Christmas gift from my sister and they are very special to me not only because she found them for me but because of their name. The design name of these candlesticks is "Newbound" by Imperial Glass, which was our maiden name. An unusual English name and from the family history I've been doing all Newbound's in Australia descend from one convict that arrived in Sydney in 1837. The saddest thing about this name is that in our immediate family their is no one to carry the name on to the next generation. My dad was the youngest of 11 children, 8 of them being boys but sadly not one of the boys had a son.
For the lovers of all things textile, especially knitting, felting, patchwork, sewing and embroidery. A bit of family life thrown in too.......enjoy!

colour me pretty: yellow wednesday
I need to get on with my chores today. Two weeks and the kids will be back at school and then I will be heading back to work too. Aaaarghhhhh.................the house is looking way too cluttered and there is too much protective dust on all the surfaces. Long summer school holidays you've got to love them. I'm sure others participating in this week of colour have found much more interesting yellow subjects to photograph but this is one I need to get really familiar with quickly. Bye till tomorrow, I'm off now to unearth some surfaces and cleanse them thoroughly!
colour me pretty: purple tuesday
Purple is a challenge for me, not one of my favourite colours. For Christmas recently I was given these two new perfumes, 'G' by Giorgio Beverly Hills from my mother and the 'Wish' by Chopard from my mother-in-law and they are both purple and are gorgeous scents to wear. Check over at Curious Bird for the list of other 'color me pretty' participants.
