Summer is here

Every second day for the few days I have picked a bowl of strawberries fresh from our vege patch, they are so ripe and full of flavour apparently...........I'm not a fan but Darling Daughter can't believe how good home grown non-refrigerated strawberries can be. I have just rinsed them, hulled, sliced and sprinkled them with castor sugar ready to enjoy with some vanilla ice cream tonight after dinner. It's 35 degrees here today, hot and dry, summer is really here after our very cold last week with some of the state even having late snow fall. Under the strawberries is a my latest finished project, a double knitting pure wool blanket perfect for someone's new babe next winter. This was a nice easy knit from 8 balls of Cleckheaton Country machine washable 8 ply wool, so soft and cosy. Now I need to go and solve what to have for dinner............it's too hot to eat let alone cook!

I am so jealous of your strawberries, and your summer. We have just had our first frost as winter sets in, without ever really having any summer to speak of this year.

Oh and by the way, love the colour of the blanket!

your strawberries look gorgeous. i've just found out ours died :(
i know what your daughter means by warm fruit. i used to love to eat my peaches off my tree - they always ripened up during the heatwave and so they would be warm to eat. warm, juicy, sweet and strangely enough, peachy tasting! mmmmmm i still really, really miss that tree.
