Couldn't resist.............

...............I'm very easily tempted when a new range of fabric arrives in our local patchwork store. 'Wonderland' by MoMo which is a bit retro looking, great new designs and colours from Moda Fabrics. I've never worked with Jelly Rolls that are pre-cut 2 1/2" strips but I decided to this time because I loved all the fresh colours and fun prints. I know I want to make a new quilt for my bed and I want it now! I've been fiddling on my quilting program EQ5 (just discovered there is a new version EQ6) and so far this sort of layout..............see below and ignore the pixelation, I took a photo of my screen including all the fingerprints and dust. I am planning 8" x 8" blocks, and of course all the coloured rectangles will be random pieces from the wonderland range and I'll have to find a great cream fabric for all the white areas. If you squint you can see linked chains of white, a good bonus secondary pattern.

i love that range of fabrics. i've made two quilts out of jelly rolls and it's great - much less cutting. i'm still labouring away at quilting my pinwheel (strippy twist) quilt. it was supposed to be my summer quilt but i don't think i made it :(

I got a jelly roll a while back, and had no idead what I would do with it, then I saw a quilt in a Kaffe Fasset book where he used it in strips like wallpaper, so that is what I'm going to do, very little cutting, just sewing looooong strips. (I haven't started it yet)
take care

You do beautiful quilting work! And I really love the lace shoulder (sleeveless) sweater a few post down.....I'd buy it and wear it!

I'm looking forward to coming back often (in fact, I'm adding you to my list so I know when new post come up).

Hi Lisa,
I use eq5 as well and have a quick trick for you, on the left of your screen there is a camera icon. Click on the icon then hold down your mouse and drag the box around your pattern. When you let go it will let you save the selection as a bitmap. Not that I mind the fingerprints hehe...
PS. I've been to Stephs 3 times this week (thanks Mr Rudd) do you think I have a problem... Maybe we need a fabrics annonimous. :)
