A quilt bonus

I have after one year back nursing worked out how I can make time in my busy life to sew again. After cleaning out my sewing room enough to make space to work I spoilt myself with all the makings for a huge quilt for our bed all bought with a a wonderful bonus from my most generous boss. I have spent a day cutting all the top pieces and then I began piecing this French style quilt from the Moda French General Rouenneries range of fabrics. I'm making it up in the free pattern by French General on the Moda site, the picture isn't very inspiring as it's computer generated but when you see it made up in real fabric it's a lovely homely quilt that is very simple................all I can cope with at the moment. A while back my sister-in-law bought me the French General book which I've poured over many times so when Moda brought out this range I had to make something for my home with it. I've bought putty coloured linen for an extra border and backing to make it an enormous 96" square quilt. I will eventually be having this quilt professionally quilted in an all over design, I've pieced 8 rows, 8 more to go then lots of long strips to join and then the borders....................not too long to go and I'm loving sewing again.

It looks so lovely. Might have to look for the pattern. I love the French general range and have some of it but might need a bit more! The book is beautiful, isn't it?

That is one fabric range that I absolutely love, I'm thinking that will be my next quilt. The colours are just lovely.
