Baby it's cold outside....

.....or at least it is in some parts of Australia at this time of year.  So I've been knitting another hat and this artistic slouchy beret is for a very artistic recipient.  The wool is Emotive Taradale again in a different dusty shade, it is a great wool to knit other than it is a little bit splitty because it doesn't have a tight twist to its plying.  The pattern Chevron Lace Beret is another free download from Ravelry by Katya Frankel, it is a a good pattern to follow but I did of course make a couple of changes.  I knit the band twice as wide from 1" to 2", added a few extra rows about 20 to make it more slouchy. The double decrease in the pattern isn't nice so I used a nice balanced and centred double decrease by slipping two stitches knitwise together to the right needle, knit the next stitch and then slip the two slipped stitches over the knit one and it looks great.

Oh wow. It is lovely.
I'm just learning to knit so I don't understand your alterations at all... but what ever it is you did the outcome looks brilliant.
