The Great Gatsby

My first visit to our local cinema complex and this was what we saw.

I love the old style decor in this cinema, it's nice to see the effort they've gone to.

The first edition with a dust jacket is worth nearly $250,000 currently.  Anyone have one!

Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan and Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby

This character map from somethingsosam is very handy so you know who's who

Dear Husband humoured me on Saturday evening and came along to the movies with me, not sure he enjoyed himself.  I read The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald published in 1925 as a schoolgirl and really loved the book, I also enjoyed the 1974 film so I thought I would really like to see the very recently released  Baz Luhrmann offering.  I've always loved Baz films at the cinema, they are always a grandiose spectacle for the eyes.  The Great Gatsby didn't disappoint on that count but I'm not sure the essence of the book was there, it was so bold and in your face...............so glad we didn't see a 3D session.  Go and see it, it is a lovely well shot film and you don't need to read the book to understand the story or the characters but do yourself a favour and read the book at some stage.
