While out exploring last week we came across this enormous walnut farm at Tabbita, owned and run by Walnuts Australia. There were bare trees as far as the eye could see, it's almost spring down under. Irrigation farming has had to diversify a great deal in the last 10 years and there are now two large Walnut farms in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and a processing plant and head office is to be commission by March 2014 at Leeton.
I've always bought Californian golden walnuts thinking they are the best but after tasting the local ones I have to say sorry California I won't be buying your nuts any longer. The local nuts don't have that strange drying after taste, they are just fresh crunchy and so tasty. Try to find them, they are sold at lots of Australian shops. Walnuts are good for you, the right sort of oil that helps to lower cholesterol, so 3-4 a day are in my diet every day.
I really love the look of all these bare trees in perfect lines, won't be long and they'll be green, might have to pop out and take some more photos through the seasons.
This week when I uploaded these photos I reached 9999 and then it started a whole new folder at 1 again. That's 416 of the old 24 photo films, that's a lot! I still love my Canon Powershot S3IS, it was the often said to be the leader of the pack in the mid noughties but I'm starting to hanker for a new toy to play with. Any suggestions? Love to hear what you all use and why?
Those bare trees got us thinking, we really need shade out the front of our new house, it's faces west and it gets HOT out here. A few phone calls later and we were at an advanced tree farm and had ordered four ornamental pear trees, Pyrus calleryana ‘Bradford’. They look great in every season, winter bare but nice bark and shape, spring covered in small white flowers, summer deep green heart shaped leaves and autumn gorgeous rich red and orange leaves. They arrive next week so now to dig four big holes in clay soil missing all the underground watering system.

I have a Canon SX20IS Power Shot for toting around every day. For sporting events and special occasions I have a Nikon D5100 SLR. That one is a little too large to pop in my purse, but it takes tremendous action shots. I have the standard lens and then a 55-300 lens add on.
Your tree shots are AWESOME. You have me hankering for some of those Australian walnuts. ;-)
